Well, that's good. So, you didn't really mean "control" as we control deer, just discourage. And by "providing abortionists" you didn't mean sending in an army of them, just making them available should the country run out of them and ask for extras.
As to the costs, I think the amount we spend on ameliorating the problems caused by global overpopulation dwarf any costs.
Perhaps you had in mind the cost of contraception and abortion. I was thinking more broadly. There are those who would fight back in many ways, including war, if we pushed. There are those who would claim genocide. Or terrorism. Or unconstitutional. There are "subjects" who would not consider your move at all benevolent and call for, fight for, an ouster. A campaign against overpopulation could suck all the air out of the planet, so to speak. There might not be energy left for anything else.
I agree with what we're doing is wrongheaded, possibly disastrous, but I don't see anything that can be done about it. Maybe, with time and education. But I don't think that getting way ahead of society is constructive. It just results in pushback. |
