Every game in Oakland sells out - with the highest prices in the NBA.
Nobody with NBA owner money gives a shit about Oakland, or any nearby arena Real Estate. The owners want to drain the fans before and after the games too; in Oakland, nobody comes early for dining out, nobody stays around much after games.
Our City is politics and PR before Public Safety; sadly.
Where fewer jobs, wealth, unemployment and ummm, social class is correlated with minorities; it's defacto racism in 2017. For some, Oakland is perceived as "too black and hispanic", with a high crime rate. Our good police are too busy and the bad ones are too inept/corrupt to investigate solve crimes which keeps Warrior's SF and suburban fan base from having pregame/postgame entertainment-- which is happens all night in SF for AT&T Park Giant's games, for example.
I do not believe the owners are remotely white supremacist. it's all about green, and "diverse" people who dominate Oakland's population don't have enough green nor are many businesses who sponsor luxury suites in the East Bay.
P.S. Last night at the Saint Mary's BYU game in the deep white suburb 12 miles away in Moraga, it was virtually white basketball. Nobody in private schools wants to discuss the reasons and impacts. 95% of the teams, private schools too, majority African American - and on MERIT. Nobody wants to talk about race anymore, and the NCAA is "shhhhhhhhhh!" Saint Marys is Australian All Stars and BYU of course, LDS. On scholarships. |
