If you are one, you should understand that a capital gain somewhere under $1M would bump your Medicare premium to the max.

Only for a year, though.

Until the next time you have a similar capital gain, then you pay it for another year.

It could be that BC has a steady income that causes this "problem" every year, but in either case, give BC a mental high-five when you see he is paying the max this year.
