Jim,
When faced with no chance you simply change the rules of the game.
In other words you don't compete directly with Intel as AMD has foolishly done but you create a new market...where you "are" market share.


An excellent example!

Why buy an expensive Ferrari when you just need an inexpensive
general purpose car to get around in, especially if the Ferrari
needs to be replaced every 2 years or so? Just how much performance
does 80% of the general market need. Faster and "better" isn't
necessarily a viable sales/marketing tool anymore. Economy of
scale and value are starting to dominate the computer market,
that is why top of the line computers have dropped by more than
50% in the last 6 months, they are losing market share to less
expensive systems with the necessary functionality.
