Thanks to all for commenting on RDRT's GMR capability.

<<The company's Giant MR technology includes "spin valve" and perrpendicular-to-the-plane Giant MR." Read-Rite was a 1996 co-recipient....>>. But is RDRT tooloing up/considering any production??? IBM has gotten most of he press on GMR ... and with drastic reduction in storage cost and thinner profit margin, DD makers will find it very competitive to compete/stay alive unless they find their niche!

Thus, strong management and vision will be key to sustain...IMO WDC and SEG will survive...and RDT. RDRT management is/has been undergoing internal/shareholder legal action (I don't know status!)...APM management has been a one man show and I think king Crisman (sorry if I've spelled) will continue to try to make a buck selling thin film and hide under tax shelter(IMHO!) as a chief, cook, and bottle washer!

The whole point of this is to inject argument that this commodity is becoming dirt cheap and that single digit PE's aren't going to drive these stocks unless new cost effective technology is being 'developed' and future profits can be sustained and growth envisioned!!!

The Asian situation and Japanese market/competition are also major concerns.

Bottomline: RDRT has cnsolidated somewhat and moved up above the 16 1/2 level and hopefully will test the 19-20 resistance. Bad news is out (?) and tax loss selling is over...maybe some new money will come in. Still long! Good luck to all.
