It has been a while ago since the SSD failed and the details of how it happened are sketchy. I do not remember, however, the quirky signs of a HD that is on its way out, clicking, flickering, etc. Had an MS OS disc and reinstalled it and other software onto the new SSD. Hope what the technician said about SSDs having a limited life length is just an exaggeration.
