Hi unclewest, Yes, I am a software engineer. During the last four years I have spent a total of one year abroad on other continents for IT projects. I can attest that you have obtained an admirable level of preparedness. It starts with the location you have chosen - close to a regional center with good infrastructure yet a day's walk from there for untrained persons. There are airports nearby, ranging from a small one really close up to an international one. Water and food are provided for: there's a lake, a creek and a well, many months of food supplies plus space to grow your own food. You also have a great neighborhood. It will take me years to get somewhat close to your level and there are some aspects which are impossible in my country (Germany). If I didn't have teen kids I would relocate to the USA. I thank you for providing a great inspiration what living a life of freedom and security can look like.
