The reason I asked about the DVD drive is that you can use the 2 cables going to it.

One is for power and the other is the SATA data connection.

What you could do is use your DVD cables to connect a new SSD.

Then clone your hard-drive to the SSD.

After the clone is done move the cables back to the DVD and use the hard-drive cables to permanently connect the SSD.

This method wouldn't require a drive to store an image or an adapter to connect the SSD to a USB port to do the clone.
