Welfare programs, esp. ones with a relatively low or fast cutoff on how much you can earn and still receive the benefit, don't subsidize low wage employers, they cost low wage employers by raising the reservation wage of low skilled/wage work.

If you get money without working, then someone who wants you to work for them will have to pay you more.

EITC is a notable exception, because you have to work to get it.
