What did you want me to say? I can't cure the problem and neither can you.
My question was "So, what are you doing with five kids?..." clarified in my next post with "So, what is that low-skilled worker doing with five kids?." I was looking for an explanation not of the impact, which is obvious, but the motivation.
I grew up in Africa. I saw plenty of it.
Since you threw in a personal observation, I will, as well. When I was a kid, an only child, my father belonged to a social club. One of the members had six kids. My dad, who produced as many kids as he felt he could afford, and his buddies used to complain loudly and often about how this guy expected not to ever have to buy a round because he had six kids to support. There was a social stigma then. And, from it, I got my sense of responsibility wrt reproduction. |
