Well Subaru (like Audi I am not sure?) is full time.. My old Explorer built on Ranger truck frame has 4WD HIGH and 4WD LOW... I engage 4WD HIGH... Really this is not an off road vehicle so the low seems superfluous to me.. Mind you it is a beast for hauling an 8K LB trailer at speed .. across Canada and back though the US... I will be sad when it dies.. I go to Montreal very often from Toronto.. I set the cruise at 119kmph in Ontario and 109kmph in Quebec where they are much stricter.. it is quite economical at these speeds to boot :) Just as good a my Hyundai 4cyl Santa Fe :))
