| | I rented last night my sixth Hollywood blockbuster in a row (that I would have turned off), the accountant, I got halfway through it and would've quit it entirely except I was curious to see if they were going to carry this nonsense out to the very end.
It is impossible look at that movie without seeing that is nothing but a cobbled together commercial package and nothing else. It has no soul at all. The story is terrible, and makes no sense because they don't explain it and when they are talking about it they ramp up the music so loud it's hard to even hear them and their supposedly discussing esoteric stuff.
Anna Kendrick is in it, who is a brilliant actress, but she's in it for about five minutes and could've done her lines in an hour I'm sure. The only reason they put her in it was so people would watch it because she's hot right now. They sure as heck didn't do anything with her.
They did the same thing with John Lithgow, pushed him into a couple small's scenes where he raves and rants and I couldn't tell quite where he fit in the whole thing. They got the State Farm guy, who's totally miscast. And the story goes nowhere at best and at worst is hard to watch it is so terrible.
I couldn't stand it, so I went back over to one of my Asian films and I've run through all the A and B list and so I had to go to the C list movie. And I was not five minutes into it and the two main heroes were discussing a Robert Frost poem the female had read to her boyfriend.
The Asians films are so rich with beautiful cinematography, beautiful colors, scenery and music. If you look at them closely they are just so pretty, the houses are nice and clean and organized and people are polite and working hard and they're always discussing deep psychological and philosophical questions.
A lot of times I will go to one of my favorite movies, just to watch the interaction because the acting is so good. The women are just beautiful to look at. They are so much better actors, IMO, and the casting is so right on compared to what we have over here and then when you add the great stories, the unbelievable humanity and empathy, you end up with something very pleasurable to watch. |
