Meanwhile, at Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 7.91% YTD (vs. up 6.48% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 5.73% YTD (vs. up 5.69% YTD a week ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 9.92% YTD (vs. up 7.11% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) closed up 3.55% YTD (vs. up 2.56% YTD a week ago).
The ARIA buyout at a fat premium was the week’s big biotech news. So it’s no surprise our new Contest leader is 20% ARIA holder, JBOG’s portfolio, up 26.43% YTD. Helped by the week’s second largest gainer, GNVC, DANIEL’s portfolio, up 20.15% YTD, took second place. And another ARIA holder, TOMP’s portfolio, up 19.34% YTD, is in third place .
At Friday's close, 44 of the 48 Contest portfolios were still in the green, with 33 beating the NBI and 14 beating the SPSIBI.
The 195 Contest portfolio stock picks have an average YTD gain of 6.59% and a median YTD gain of 5.38%, with 145 of the 195 picks up for the year.
