One obvious partial solution to the Korean chip manufacturers problems is production quotas to increase prices. Although this would hurt market share in the mid to long term, it is a viable short term patch. It is obvious to me that unbridled capacity expansion in the Asian chip industry is at an end. Efficiency will be at a premium. In this case KLA-Tencor is well positioned.
