Ken: Thanx for your response. In the year of closing a short sale, I have reported the transaction as a short term capital gain(once a loss). You need not fear if the total of your reported trades exceeds the broker report. The IRS concerns itself only with under-reporting transactions that may result in additional taxes. Think of your approach to the Sales Tax collections. How hard do you look for folks who have overpaid? Best wishes, Bob Miller
