Nokia 6 sells out in just 1 minute in China

technobuffalo.com

Nokia’s return to the smartphone business is going well so far, with its latest handset, the Nokia 6 built by HMD Global, selling out in just one minute in China. Over a million people registered their interest in the device.

Flash sales are commonplace in China, and they’re often a big success for company’s like Xiaomi, whose affordable yet impressive handsets always sell well. However, not too many people will have expected the Nokia 6 to be quite so popular.

Its flash sale kicked off at 10:06 a.m. local time via the Jingdong Mall, according to Chinese news agency Anzhuo and by 10:07, all available units had been claimed. It’s not yet clear exactly how many handsets were made available by HMD this time around.

However, a second flash sale is scheduled to take place in the coming days, and you can bet the company will be working to produce as many units as it possibly can by then to serve the demand.

The Nokia 6 is priced at 1,699 yuan in China (approx. $247), and you get a pretty compelling device for your money. Sure, it’s powered by a slower Snapdragon 430 chipset, but you also get 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a 16-megapixel camera, and a 5.5-inch Full HD display.

There’s also a sizeable 3,000 mAh battery under the hood, dual SIM card slots, a fingerprint scanner, and Android 7.0 Nougat pre-installed.

Sadly, the Nokia 6 isn’t available outside of China for now — and it’s unclear whether it ever will be, at least officially. You may be able to import one where you live later on, but with the flash sales selling out this quickly, that won’t be happening anytime soon.

The good news is, Nokia has promised it will deliver more Android-powered smartphones at Mobile World Congress next month.
