It's dramatically catchy.

The context was in the speech but I have had an additional thought. If I were a fly on the wall of Trumps brain, I might have heard him saying to himself ... 'This is AMAZING! Just watch, the people will be talking about American carnage for years, years I tell ya!!!'

It seems like Trump always says something that gets people talking about his statement, usually for days and often ending up as a top news story. I remember the gist of Obama's inaugural speech and I really liked it, but I can't remember a catchy phrase and I doubt very many average people could.
