I understand that I grew up poor worked very hard put myself through college and then pulled my family out of poverty. And I think I was able to do that while my mother got a whopping $12 in food stamps she turned down while working as a dry cleaner. I get tired of hearing how the only way for the poor to make it in America is the government. That is complete elitist thinking that only replaces the shackles of slavery with a new demeaning master called welfare.
