In California prior to ACA no insurance company would insure my son at any cost prior to the age of 12. He was 8 at the time ACA passed and immediately my insurer ask if I wanted to add him and they did. As for his ASD related care such as speech therapy, ABA therapy, etc that was all covered by the great state of California and a reason I never complain about my state taxes or property taxes.
