As I pointed out in another post, though, it [second hand smoke] does kill thousands of spouses of non-smoking spouses of smokers every year in America.

Proof? How many "thousands"? And how can one isolate the cause? What I've read indicates only that non-smokers who live with smokers tend to have more respiratory infections than those who live in a smoke-free environment, which, while perhaps undesirable except for children seeking time off school, is in itself not a great big deal. Something I read recently suggests that non-smokers living with smokers may run a greater risk of heart disease, which of course is more serious, though again none of this is very significant compared to dangers posed by industrial and automotive pollution.

As for asthma, no one seems to want to believe me, but some asthmatics choose to smoke because smoking stops attacks.

And as for incense, I doubt very much whether filling one's home with smoke of any kind is healthy.

I'm not saying it's GOOD for you--it's not, and if there were an easy way to quit I'd do so--but let's not get carried away. I recall that when the agreement with the tobacco companies was signed some months ago the grandstanding attorney general of Mississippi described it as the "greatest public health care advance in the history of the world". This is idiocy.
