Scientists have been fabricating things ever-since they started handing out PhDs to each-other

"According to Keith Allan Noble (1994), the first doctoral degree was awarded in medieval Paris around 1150. The doctorate of philosophydeveloped in Germany in the 17th century (c. 1652)."

The high-priests of each profession get comfortable tenure and plum research projects and free travel. They get to walk around being distinguished and can say outlandish things with no censure. It is an easy life and there is no trouble as long as you march in line and conform with the elite PhDs of your respective discipline.

I wrote an outline of a report that I wanted a PhD to rubber-stamp. The opinion/report came back almost identical to how I wrote it with the exception of a few opening paragraphs and references and the references were the PhD and his PhD friends.

The elite PhDs control the nomenclature of their discipline and the other PhDs have to bow to them. These most esteemed egg-heads routinely change established names of things so their old publications have to be updated and reprinted. The $ billions spent on useless new textbooks annually could have established a colony on Mars or solved global-food-shortages.

Land Shark might fool some people and he may even fool himself but I know it is all about the money.
