I'll refrain on continuing the discussion on inflation much further here - but I've posted on it extensively over on COBAF. Rest assured, I have many reasons for thinking the number is well above 4% - although I'm not sure by how much. Luckily I'm not in the business of speculating about such things. Commodities are not a good indicator because high commodity prices boost production, but the appreciation of farmland over the past century where the quantity is fixed should give some idea:
