<< Are you saying that Mr. Rogers ideas are as profound as Copernicus' and Galileo's? <VBG> >>

No, I'm saying that when people don't understand ideas they dismiss them as ludicrous. Obviously Beachbumm doesn't have a clue about N. Korean stamps and coins so he chooses to ridicule J. Rogers. The question that was asked of Jimmy Rogers was what he liked for the best percentage gain. He gave his honest opinion which was N. Korean stamps. People may laugh at him, but how many people are going to rush out and but those? Probably not many. Precisely why they might make a good investment. Jimmy likes to make esoteric investments before they become widely known. After everybody jumps on the bandwagon he looks to get out. That is why he made a 400% return on his investment in Austria in 3 years. Then, after everybody couldn't get enough of Austria he predicted it's fall. (BTW, his best investment for the downside was shorting Italian govt. bonds).

<< On a more serious note. When you're short do you get interest on your credit balance? I don't think so but I figured I'd ask. >>

You don't get interest unfortunately. You get charged interest for your margin.
