In the London riots of five years ago, the rioters learned to their dismay that the videos and other evidence was used after the event to track them down and prosecute them one by one. Many thought they were just having fun and enjoying some looting in an anonymous crowd.

Unfortunately for them, they got rounded up and punished.

A riot is not the anonymous fun it once was. With facial recognition, it's going to be increasingly easy to get them later. Masks will help for now, but even physical movement and shape will soon be giveaways - with old video being used to catch them even years later.
