I just wrote a long post on inflation I managed to delete. Basically, a good measure of inflation needs a market with a fixed supply and fixed demand. No such market exists of course, farmland has a remarkably fixed supply and demand that varies quite slowly domestically, making it a far better choice than food prices. Your morningstar link didn't work for me. The discount is unquestioned. Their book value has been steadily increasing for at least 5 years, so it might be a bit weak on the second requirement. Please explain. I always welcome an opportunity to be proven wrong as it saves me money in the long run.
