Cable is the way to go, for the reasons that stak listed. I especially like the "instant on" feature. One possible future problem is that since the bandwidth is shared, as cable gets more popular, it will get slower. The technician who installed my system told me tnat if that happens, they will simlply use an additional cable channel that they have in reserve.
Once you have cable you will never go back to any telephone system.
Contrary to what some have said, a program called Net Medic will show that most delays are web related rather than site related. Also I believe the cable vendor may cache some sites.
