• Malwarebytes 3.0 Premium: pcmag.com
• Malwarebytes 3.0 Free: pcmag.com
Neil notes: "Malwarebytes 3.0 Premium has protection layers galore, some not found in competing products. It's hard to test and verify those layers, but I'm confident they do the job. Even so, I suggest using this tool in conjunction with a traditional antivirus, as I'll explain."
In the category of (basic) paid Antivirus Utilities where Editors Choice products from Bitdefender, Kaspersky, and Symantec Norton are rated 4.5/5 Stars and several others rated 4.0/5 Stars Neil rates Malwarebytes 3.0 Premium 3.5/5 Stars.
As for the Free version Neil states: "For many years, Malwarebytes has been the go-to solution when other antivirus products drop the ball. It's been a few years since the program's last update. During that time, the company has focused a lot of its energy on preventing pcs from getting infested with malware in the first place, but Malwarebytes 3.0 Free is still available to clean up malware's messes. It's still an excellent tool, although it didn't perform as well as the last version in my testing."
Despite this Neil rates the Free version 4.0/5 Stars in the Free Antivirus category along with several other popular free products and advises keeping it in one's toolbox.
