What was the real crime in the Russian treason arrests?

Did someone cooperate too closely with western intelligence investigating Russian hacking? Or is Putin simply locking up people with too much hot info?

For all we know, Yevgeny Nikulin, could have left Russia ahead of an arrest there. He might be better off in the hands of the FBI. Hope no one mentions Nikulin's whereabouts in Trump or Flynn's presence. That info getting back to Russia could allow them to keep his mouth shut forever.
