1/27/2017 Contest update
The Trump stock market rally chalked up another record with the Dow closing over 20,000. Since he’s the reason they’re rolling in the dough, maybe Trump should demand that Wall St. pay for his Wall. Meanwhile, our biotechs continue to lag the broader market. Sad.
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 2.63% YTD (vs. up 2.99% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 3.50% YTD (vs. up 3.14% YTD a week ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 7.19% YTD (vs. up 6.68% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) closed up 5.16% YTD (vs. up 3.20% YTD a week ago).
JBOG’s portfolio, up 20.33% YTD, remains the Contest leader, with DANIEL’s portfolio, up 14.88% YTD, boosted to second place by the GNVC buyout and TOMP’s portfolio, up 14.45% YTD, dropping to third place.
At Friday's close, 30 of the 48 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 21 beating the NBI and 13 beating the SPSIBI.
The 195 Contest portfolio stock picks have an average YTD gain of 2.71% and a median YTD gain of .67%, with 102 of the 195 picks up for the year.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments:
1) ABTU.L symbol change to AQB and now traded on Nasdaq in dollars.
2) MCUR reverse merger into LPTX with conversion rate of .1815 of an LPTX share for each MCUR share.
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits, greatly appreciated.)
Enjoy the final January weekend biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
