I started buying SSDs a couple of years ago for speed, but I still feel more secure with data preservation using hard-drives for backups.

With my son's computer, I started with a 1TB Toshiba for the OS and software and after everything was installed to my liking, I cloned the hard-drive to a 1TB SanDisk SSD.

He's running that computer off the SSD, but the new hard-drive although now unplugged is still in his desktop case for if and when the SSD fails.
