I do think the American Public wants a genuine alternative from the Democratic Party. Problem is the DNC Power Brokers and Obama/Clinton did their best to shoot down that alternative in the form of Bernie Sanders.

I think it's a big mistake to wait 2 years when we will see a crowded field of Dem hopefuls running for President. Doing that, puts the Dems in a very submissive position, leaving its fate tied to how the economy is doing under the Trump Administration.

Let's face it, if the economy is growing at 3%-4% clip by 2020, the Dems can kiss 2020 good bye. It will be a 1984 forty eight -fifty state landslide for Trump. The time to go on the offensive is now. Yet I see the Dems in full scale retreat.

On the other hand, it is very possible that Trump may end up handing the 2020 election over to the Democrats if the economy blows up, which is a distinct possibility if Trump gets most of what he wants in terms of tax cuts and infrastructure spending.

The thing is if the Dems want to maximize gains during the 2018 midterm elections the time to go on the offensive is now. Not doing so, shows that the DNC has no real interest in challenging Trump. That would make a Trump lite challenge in the form of Michael Bloomberg a distinct possibility.
