Man,the damn program trading had to screw everything up.

Dow falls, NYSE sets brakes amid program sell
NEW YORK, Jan 5 (Reuters) - A large computer-driven sell program tipped the Dow industrials in late trading, sending the average coasting to a 53-point loss and touching a session low of 7912.
The drop triggered curbs on program-trading on the downside at 1409 EST/1909 GMT, according to the New York Stock Exchange.

Birinyi & Associates, which tracks program trades, said the large sell program cut into the Dow in late trading.

But the average then bounced back, with the Dow off about 29 points to 7936 just minutes after the selling subsided.

The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was also lower, down 3.88 points to 971. Its losses were about the same as the those on the Dow 30 on a percentage basis.

The Nasdaq Composite remained positive. The technology-heavy index was up nearly nine points, or 0.56 percent, to 1590.
