Religion is at minimum a shock absorber.
For many, I think that's true... But I also think it's a shock administer, eg teaching the fear of God which we always hear as being a good quality of a man......love of God is heard much less frequently...

Believing in such a simple concept is easy enough for even the most uneducated to buy into.......putting any thought into it makes their hair hurt (and then there's that fear instilled in them when they were children)
