XLNX and ALTR were first with these kinds of libraries. Right now I think most DSP is done with the programmable chips from TI & others. These are flexible and well tested components, but expensive. All the FPGA houses are trying to break into DSP right now. Bottom line -- I don't think it means a lot for the next few quarters. Telcom and media apps are not adopting these technologies on a grand scale as of yet. It's risky, but in the future there may be apps that need a high degree of flexibility/cheap processing -- soft cores will provide that, I think, but I'm no technology guru. Just have a friend in the business.
