GSI Stop Arm math ... The recently posted (SH) contract with Lumpkin County lumpkincounty.gov reveals that the cost to equip a bus amounts to $10,800. Assuming that this represents the full list price as well as installation etc, GSI’s true cost is probably somewhere around $6,000 which would translate to roughly 40 $300 tickets (50% goes to GSI) to recover GSI’s initial capital outlay.

If we then use (and believe) the infraction frequency (0.8 infractions / bus / school day) also posted on SH stockhouse.com , it would take roughly 50 school days for GSI to reach breakeven.

I personally don’t believe these frequency numbers but even if we cut the frequency in half and further assume a publicity induced 50% incident reduction, GSI should comfortably recover their cost within one year.
