I have a lot of teacher friends. And I have asked them over the years about charter schools. They always tell me the same thing, when kids come to the public schools from charter schools most of the time they're behind and have to catch up.

Charter schools are a terrible idea, because they weaken the public democratic school system, and don't have standards and system set up to hire people with proper qualification i.e. know th subject-lol.

And .because there's money involved you know they will hire cheap teachers and can engage all sorts of manipulations.

As you well know, the good old public school is about the best way to teach a child. Our community colleges, state colleges and universities in California have done as good a job teaching people, as any educational systems in the entire world. It is as good as it gets.

The best sort of education, is just an ABC public education given by many different teachers, with many different perspectives. Most of them do a fine job.

I have never heard any of my friends, or anyone of my clan talk about how bad the teachers were. That is never a discussion that even comes up. For the most part public teachers are great.

The grand irony is that the ones that want charter schools and do the home teaching are the ones least qualified to do so. It Is not my friends with university degrees that are home schooling their kids, it is my friends that never went to college that are home schooling their children.

So that should say it all.

Uh, you are aware that most of the complaints are on the state level? For a lot of reasons, like no tax base, the public schools in Detroit are a basket case. But not so at the state level. Which is what people in Michigan, even supporters of charter schools are complaining about.

Apparently charter schools are held to a lesser standard than public schools in Michigan. At DeVos' insistence. Which is why she was specifically questioned on that matter. And she refused to answer.

Points, I suppose, for attempting to obfuscating the issue.
