Have you ever traveled to Sweden or other Scandinavian countries; and, how recently did you? I traveled there a little over a decade ago after Copenhagen, Denmark and an extended European tour. It was an interesting and fascinating experience and even had an urbane (as far as Sweden goes) Swedish friend from my university days to visit but her showing me the rural side of things was quite revealing.

Moreover, any interesting and educated Swedish person I've met casually, and or had a friendship with was successful and engaging... AND INSISTED on spending as much time as possible outside of the country and I say that factoring in their harsh winters.

In other words, the motivated locals see more opportunity abroad than at home. Granted, you and I move in different circles. My only point is if you're into travel, why not take a Scandinavian tour if you haven't already?
