480 days maternity leave with 80% of salary paid
It actually is a maternity/paternity leave!
The parents can make the choice, if one or the other - or split it up on both as they prefer and according how it fits their occupations. My son is married to a medical doctor ph.d. and right now he takes care of the kids. He, with 2 college degrees on his own and a great job, right now working at home.
Fortunately these days, it is possible to stay in touch with your occupation from home as well. I asked him, if this may not be career limiting? He doesn't think so and mentioned, that even his boss had taken time off the same way.
As for the free health care, unfortunately much of that is theory, unless you believe, that having to wait 6 months for a cancer operation deserves to be called - 'health care'. Not unusual at all and same goes for many other health care services. While the hospitals are stuffed with outstanding equipment of all kinds, too few medics to operate the equipment - or just to operate, period!
Not attractive enough to work at a hospital, it looks like.
The free school education is fine, except for the fact, that the quality has come down and is now approaching the 'quality' of US public schools. |
