Do you think I, and others like me, enjoy seeing people suffer? Do you think the Republicans in Congress, or Donald Trump, likes to see people suffer?

If you don't leave room for the possibility some others understand things that you don't, it seems self-defeating. Because in reality, a lot of the things you believe are true simply aren't, and often the very actions you support (like government spending on poverty programs) do not have the effects you think they do, and in some cases do more damage than good. That is, INCREASE suffering.

Milton Friedman famously commented that, "One of the great mistakes is to judge policies and programs by their intention instead of by their results."

You should stop and think about whether you are making this mistake. Most politicians have good intentions but differ about what best accomplishes given objectives. Your [liberals, collectively] mistake is to assume that certain actions will improve the lot of the poor while in truth, it makes them worse off. We see this time and again.
