Ole rouble is not an exactly good example. 20 years ago 1 ruble equaled 1$ the only problem that was for foreigners, that was extraction money, you could change into roubles but not back. Than of course one does not measure how many roubles, more important how much time the worker must work to buy same product. e.g bread, car, refrigerator, apartment rent. For example to ride all day on subway was 20 c, and rent was $10 and so on, but even that was of no use as far as comparison goes. Ordinary person could not go on vacation to Spain no matter how much roubles he had ($ were not allowed) Nor he could buy anything foreign (except for few) Imagine it was a priveledge to have Sony Recorder or Beatles records)
Now the problem is opposite too much $$, when $$ dry up, as they sure would than Russia is far worse than Korea (they produce nothing, zero and they are very angry and well, very well armed... |
