>> Maybe it's him.The most obvious fact is that CO2 has gone from 280 ppm to just over 400 ppm since the industrial age began, and temperatures peaked at 1.51 degrees above pre-industrial last Feb. This is Berkeley Earth, funded by the Kochs and staffed by Judith Curry, until it confirmed that the planet was warming. Now, the group continues, but without the support of either.

Sure. Maybe it is one of the most experienced scientists on the planet today. One who worked with the absolute greats like Einstein, like Feynman, like Oppenheimer. Sure, he could be an idiot.

Or he could just have a hell of a lot of perspective that is absent from these kiddos working on climate change today. Interestingly, he understands the problem that everyone else seems to missing. The problem is with the models. The models don't work. It would not even be reasonable to BELIEVE they work. Climate systems are difficult to model and all we're really talking about here are regression models. They are ESTIMATES.

These models are wrong. Have been consistently, and longer they're used the wronger they get. It is stupid. As a graduate student I did modeling for a full year. Complicated econometric models with large numbers of variables. And you simply cannot produce the kind of accuracy and precision these people are claiming unless you have very good data. And they do not have it. IT is bullshit.

There is something seriously wrong with EVERY SINGLE DATASET. Inaccuracy; long runs of missing data; even the extent of heat island effect is unknown.

I'm not saying give up, but we need thoughtful experimenters.
