Wish I posted this sooner but interesting point of conversation, off lease workstations? Personally have dealt with a few and also helped friends build systems from them. It involves DIY initiative of buying and installing individual components to upgrade. And sometimes the architecture is less future proof and proprietary than latest (more cheaply built consumer models) but, a cpu of this power with a larger well built workstation case with future expansion slots seems to make sense for a CHEAPER DIY with decent horsepower to start, imo. Haven't figured out if and how high cpu could be upgraded in the future. But workstations like this with xeons like this are not and cannot as far as I know be overclocked. This could be built into a value gaming rig but xeon is not designed for that. I guess my comment is while building a pc from scratch is a very satisfying endeavor and educational, refitting refurbs like this offer its own value proposition for some and time savings.
