Nokia is one of my turnaround situations. Some turnaround situations happen fairly quickly, but many take a while and require patience. NOK hit my radar in the spring of 2015 so it is approaching 2 years, which is not all that unusual. The key, of course, lies in the growth of the networking sector and NOK becoming a big player in the deployment of 5G. The recent acquisition of Comptel was very encouraging in that regard. The new smartphone, which was nice, from a marketing perspective, is not going to propel Nokia shares much higher from current levels. Nokia is a cash cow and offering a decent dividend while I wait. 2017 is the decisive year in the potential turnaround story for NOK.
