Canadian immigration has backlog 19000 refugee claims. The number is growing faster than is being processed. Vetting and processing for a family takes 12 to 18 months on average. In the mean time these refugees cost the taxpayers $100,000+ per family unit as they are educated (The children in schools and adults where necessary in either English or French classes) Clothing is bought, as they are housed in rental units, and furniture is purchased. Transportation fees are covered or arranged. The refugees are given a monthly stipend to live on for food and other expenses. The money they are forwarded is greater than that which is paid to Social security or old age pensions paid to Canadian residents. Plus they are extended 100% paid for medical and hospital privileges. Plus they are given suitable job training. An earlier case in central eastern Canada a refugee family through the refugee aid society sued the government ministry for providing degrading accommodation facilities and were awarded a favorable decision. Since then housing and care provided are better than many Canadians have themselves. And quality of care and funding far exceeds that provided for First Nations, The Canadian Homeless or single Mothers with children where the husband has been killed, died or left the country or is a victim of substance abuse and has became a street person himself. I am not against helping out foreigners in need of a place to reside or move to. But Charity must be moderated. Should not overwhelming exceed the level of which a country looks after it's own. Doing other wise is simply politicians sticking out their chest, trying to puff up their personal image on the world stage using other peoples money. It is simply mortgaging the incomes of future generations.
