2/17/2017 Contest update
Will the Trump presidency boost headache drug revenues? Maybe so, considering that the migraine drug developer, Zosana Pharma (ZSAN), is the top performing portfolio stock for this week (up 160%) and YTD (up 300%).
Meanwhile, at Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 12.60% YTD (vs. up 9.29% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 11.10% YTD (vs. up 7.34 YTD a week ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 17.39% YTD (vs. up 12.74% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) closed up 8.46% YTD (vs. up 6.52% YTD a week ago).
Riding the ZSAN rocket, BIOADD’s portfolio, up a phenomenal 49.37% YTD, zoomed into the Contest lead. YVR’s portfolio, up 31.59% YTD, jumped into second place, with JBOG’s portfolio, up 29.98% YTD, dropping to third place.
At Friday's close, 43 of the 48 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 26 still beating the NBI and just 13 beating the booming SPSIBI.
The 195 Contest portfolio stock picks have an average YTD gain of 13.09% and a median YTD gain of 7.14%, with 125 of the 195 picks up for the year.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: ARIA buyout at $24 by Takeda. I used Friday, 2/17/17 closing prices for reallocating cash. ARIA was held in five Contest portfolios.
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits, greatly appreciated.)
Enjoy a relaxing President’s Day weekend biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
