"Just imagine the next screams about the next drought caused by AGW."

It will happen again. The only questions are "when?" and "for how long?" Maybe those rugged individualist Republican farmers in Kern Co. should have done what this Bakersfield Boy did, which is dig a big hole, let it fill with water, and call it a pond. Maybe they should.jump in on this project, to get some water rights, or find their own spot, for rainy years.

Placer County water agencies join proposed Sites Reservoir project

Roseville’s City Council and Placer County Water Agency’s (PCWA) Board of Directors this week opted into the initial phase of the Sites Reservoir project—a proposed off stream surface water facility west of the Sacramento River. With this approval, both water agencies will officially invest into the project and join other water districts in providing necessary backing to cover a portion of the project costs. The merits of the project comport with Roseville and PCWA’s longstanding commitment of improving water supply reliability for customers and creating projects that promote environmental sustainability

As far as the politics go, Raygun killed the last big reservoir, which would have been twice the size of Shasta. Then the farmers and the Jarvis-Gann proto-teabaggers killed Jerry Brown's water proposition in '82. Then nothing happened until Jerry was elected again, and we the people passed his new water bill in '14.
