Complex modelers have no experience running ventilators. That's why I let them tell me about CO2 in the atmosphere, while I told them about CO2 in the lungs.

The first dynamic model of the respiratory system was developed by Grodins et al. (1954) 9. Although it is the later more elaborate model by Grodins et al. (1967) 13 that became famous, the 1954 model provided the basic principles on which many models of the entire respiratory system are based. Figure 2, adapted from the 1954 publication 9, describes the general features of a feedback regulator.
