I get an e-mail news service from Individual, Inc. called First Alert. I set Eudora to check the e-mail every minute. The service costs $250/yr for 40 companies. That's $6.50/yr/company. I am using it to track 80 companies. It paid for itself for 4 yrs in the first month. That was with one trade (GENZL). Is it fast? Compared to the fastest feed I know of which is my level 2 dial-up feed using Watcher it is pretty good. (2-5 minutes lag average) The Watcher has Dow Jones News headlines directly off the wire. (Some say it's faster than the "broadwire", whatever that means.) But Watcher only gives one line of text which is often insufficient to capture the significance of the news.
I'd like to compare the arrival times of other news feeds. Write down the times of the news on INTC or MSFT or any other stocks you track and we can compare the arrival times of our news.
