| | | I personally wouldn't be so critical of H Clinton back when she pushed for universal health care reform. You sound as if you think she could pass the law by herself. The law could only be passed by Clowngress. When you have 51+ Senators and/or 218+ Reps on the health care insurance/repression payola, you can't get a law passed. It is as simple as that. No level of her wanting anything better for the people can change that. Nor would it have with Bernie. I remember that time like it was tomorrow -- the push back against her was epic. You are kidding yourself if you think she could have gotten that through. Or Obama for that matter. We are a society of people who value money and principals taught to them by the elite to benefit the elite above health, safety, quality of life, community, peace of mind, life expectancy, long term well being of our country, water quality, air quality, rational thought, critical thought. We collectively put far more energy and thought into hypothetical NFL draft order than how the gov't chooses to lay waste to other nations or other national calamities. We embrace a lunatic who uses Faux "News" apparently as his national security briefing (based on his ignorant comments about Sweden yesterday). In fact, we have a large segment of the population who now embrace and celebrate ignorance, respond to the drumbeat to destroy environmental and labor protections as if we are tearing down the Berlin Wall, hear about foreign meddling into our election and just yawn.
Even a left wing candidate won't matter unless there is widespread reform of our national priorities. I just don't see it happening without significant strife and with the gov't widely attacking it's citizens as a catalyst for a national conversation and galvanizing people and causing them to mobilize. |
