I just started looking over this thread and saw your post. I recently purchased a DISH system via Internet from Great Lakes Video in Michigan. Was installed a few days ago and I am pretty impressed with the performance over cable....and at a considerably lower cost per month. What was interesting was the price breaks from mail order. What costs 350-450$ in Rochester NY could be had for 215$ on mailorder...also a deal on install. At those prices the thought of switching from cable was easy. The local shop here couldn't believe how low they were selling for, and couldn't match the price. But Great Lakes was having trouble keeping the upper end sytems in stock...sold out of 5000's as soon as they came in , and stopped taking any orders just before Christmas as they were unsure of the replenishment timeline.

The Echonet installation network also worked well. They called to set up an install time even before the system arrived. I'd have installed it myself if not for some site concerns(trees to the south).

DISH certainly has a well built, easy to install and nicely configured hardware package...and programming that is of equal quality. They've just got to get that messageout to the masses, build enough product and educate people that unhooking from cable doesn't hurt..infact it feels pretty nice! (Time Warner has the monopoly in our area)

Certainly a stock I'll watch closely
